BRM Fundamentals

The Business Relationship Management (BRM) Executive Brief is targeted towards the CEO, executives, and other business
leaders looking to gain knowledge of why and how to leverage their Business  relationship Management capability to move IT, HR and Finance functions and business functions to converged strategic partners and drive business value. Typical duration of this session is 1 – 3 hours.

Executive brief

The BRM Fundamentals introduces BRM as a capability, role and discipline. The target audience for this course is any person or team that that needs to understand the BRM capability. In the course the focus will be on understanding what a BRM capability is, what a Business Relationship Manager does and does not do, the use of language to change mindsets and how BRM interacts with other disciplines. The course can be delivered as a 1 day classroom or online instructor led course. It is also possible to deliver it in a 2 half day online format.

Certification Courses

BRM Professional (BRMP)

The Business Relationship Management Professional® or BRMP® course immerses attendees in the foundation and principles of Business Relationship Management. The BRMP training and certification program is intended for Business Relationship Managers or equivalent roles, with the training and certification designed to provide a solid baseline level of knowledge. The course can be delivered in the following formats: 3 full day classroom course, 2.5 full day instructorled online course or 5 half day instructor-led online course or. This course includes the certification exam.

Certified BRM (CBRM)

The Certified Business Relationship Manager® or CBRM® Practitioner Qualification is intended for the intermediate to advanced Business Relationship Manager and focuses on performing the role of Strategic Business Relationship Manager. The primary focus is on strategic Business Relationship Management leveraged to optimize value to the enterprise. The purpose of the CBRM Practitioner qualification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply CBRM guidance in a given scenario situation. The course can be delivered in the following formats: 4.5 day classroom course or 4.5 day instructor-led online course. This course includes the certification exam.

Strategic Partnering Approach

The Strategic Partnering Approach workshop guides participants through a structured approach on how to build strategic partnerships leveraging a BRM capability. The focus will be on understanding the current state (through different assessments), setting clear purpose for the BRM Capability, understanding how to evolve cultureand drive value. During the workshop the attendees will build an approach for improving the BRM capability by utilizing graphical charts. The target audience for this workshop is Business Relationship Managers, their executive management team, and optionally their Business Partners. This workshop can be delivered to BRM teams in IT, HR and Finance. The workshop can be delivered in the following formats: 2-day classroom workshop or 3 half day facilitator-led online workshop.

Becoming a Value-Focused Organization

To determine your organization’s cultural readiness and business value ability, leverage this Business Value Ability: Organization Assessment, which focuses on the organizational culture and individual behaviours of leadership and employees. These factors impact culture, business value realization and optimization. The assessment guides participants through a simple technique for assessing business value ability and cultural readiness across the organization and surfacing BRM capability maturity, gaps, as well as opportunities to improve. This facilitated approach will result in a roadmap for improvement of the organization’s business value ability. This approach is often combined with either the Strategic Partnering Approach or the Becoming a ValueFocused Organization workshop. The execution of the roadmap can be assisted by BRM Coaching.

BRM Roadmap Development

Organization frequently following any of our workshops or courses choose to add-on a BRM Roadmap Development workshop. This one-day workshop takes the learnings from the prior workshop or course and focuses on action planning for those learnings. The question: ‘What am I going to do different now?’ is foremost in mind, and the intent is to ensure value is realized out of the investment in professional development of the BRM team. This  facilitated approach will result in a roadmap for improvement of the organization’s BRM Capability. The execution of the roadmap can be assisted by BRM Coaching.

Business Value Ability Assessment

BRM Capability Assessment

To determine the current state of your organization’s BRM Capability with the BRM team at the center. The assessment includes a relationship maturity and role determination of the BRM team within the Business environment (Business Partners and IT, HR and Finance Function), an organizational positionining and mandate review, and a competency review. The assessment uses a set of questionnaires and interviews to assess the current state of the BRM capability maturity, identified gaps, as well as opportunities to improve.
